If you tried to check out using PayPal and your payment was declined—even though you know your account is in good standing—it might be due to your billing address.
Why This Happens
PayPal uses a security tool called Address Verification System (AVS) to help prevent fraud.
When you make a payment, AVS checks the billing address on your PayPal account—specifically the street number and postal code—against the information your bank has on file.
Here’s the catch:
P.O. Boxes don’t include a street number, so AVS can’t verify them.
That’s why payments tied to a P.O. Box often fail automatically.
How to Fix It
To resolve the issue and complete your purchase, you have a couple of options:
Update your PayPal account to include a street address under your billing details.
You can still keep your P.O. Box as your mailing address—but PayPal needs a street address in order to verify your payment.
Use a credit or debit card directly at checkout instead of PayPal.
This lets you manually enter your billing address with a street number, which will help the system verify your payment and allow it to go through.
⚠️ Important: This isn’t something we can override on our end.
AVS is managed entirely by your bank and payment provider. If you’re still having trouble, we recommend reaching out to PayPal Support directly for help resolving the issue.
Once your billing information includes a verifiable street address, your payment should go through smoothly.
