As a Practice Tarot Readings reader, you may occasionally receive requests that don’t align with your personal code of ethics. While these situations might feel uncomfortable or challenging, they offer valuable opportunities to grow, learn, and strengthen your skills as a reader.
Here’s how to approach these situations with confidence and integrity.
Reframe the Question
We encourage you to work with your client to reframe their question or choose a different topic that feels more appropriate. For example, if the question involves a third party (e.g., “Does my ex still love me?”), you can guide them to refocus on their own journey, such as:
- “What can I do to heal and move forward from this relationship?”
- “How can I open my heart to love again?”
If the request is about a sensitive or professional issue (e.g., health or legal matters), kindly remind them that Tarot isn’t a substitute for professional advice, and suggest empowering alternatives, such as:
- “How can I nurture my health and well-being during this time?”
- “What steps can I take to feel more supported?”
The goal is to encourage open-ended questions that focus on their growth, choices, or actions. This approach aligns with the purpose of Tarot as a tool for empowerment and self-discovery.
When You Can’t Agree on a Question
If the client isn’t willing to reframe their question or select a different topic, let them know that you won’t be able to proceed with the reading. Be kind but firm, and explain that the reading will not be reassigned to another reader either.
You can also suggest that they revisit the guidelines and submit a new request in 15 days with a question that better aligns with an empowered approach.
There’s no need to cancel the request yourself—you can leave it in your In Progress folder, and it will automatically cancel after 14 days.
