Many clients are not aware of how to ask empowering questions and they may have a different understanding of Tarot and what is possible. All they know is they have a very deep desire and wish and they are reaching out for guidance and insight. As Tarot Advisors, we want our clients to feel safe, open and comfortable. After all, they are showing great courage by reaching out and sharing a vulnerable aspect of their lives.
Your clients will vary in their understanding of how Tarot works. Learning to educate others about what Tarot can and can’t do is an important part of your growth experience as a Tarot reader.
Taking the opportunity to start a dialogue with your client and learn more about the situation they are experiencing, will help you establish a better connection and have a clearer understanding of what they are asking.
Once you have a broader perspective on your client's situation, it will be much easier to determine how you can move forward and it will aid you in finding the most supportive question to ask instead. Not only that, but your client will also feel heard and validated, which is what everyone desires when seeking direction. From there you will be able to get to the heart of the question and assist your client in rephrasing their question.
Here are some ideas for rephrasing the question:
- What do you need to know about... ?
- How can you... ?
- What do you need to do to improve... ?
- What do you need to change in order to... ?
- What do you truly desire and why?
