Frequently Asked Questions
What support do I get as a Free Tarot Reader?
For all Tarot-related questions, post in the Free Tarot Readings Forum and draw on the knowledge and experience of the Biddy Tarot Community to support you.
If you have a technical or administrative question, contact the Biddy Tarot team here or view the Community Video Guides here.
To develop your Tarot reading skills, access the Biddy Tarot Community here or learn more about the Biddy Tarot programs here.
How do I know when I’m ready to start doing Free Tarot Readings?
If you have a basic understanding of the card meanings and can perform a 1–3 card reading—you are ready! If you feel like you might need a refresher or some quick tips, I recommend taking part in the Tarot 101 course offered inside of the Community.
Plus, please know that it’s perfectly okay for you to consult the books (and the Biddy Tarot website!) while you’re still learning—just don’t copy word-for-word text into your readings.
How many readings do I need to do each week?
You decide! It’s good to start out with a modest number of readings per week (1–2), especially as you get used to the platform. As you feel more comfortable, you may want to take on more readings. Just don’t overdo it. And if you ever need a break, go into your dashboard and set your availability to zero or click NO under “Accepting Readings” while you re-energize.
How long do my readings have to be?
You decide that too! I recommend sticking to simple readings with 1–5 cards, rather than more complex readings.
However, if you are keen to practice your skills and want to do 10+ card readings, go right ahead. Be sure to make managing your energy and time a priority.
In terms of writing up or recording your readings — that is also up to you. There is no minimum or maximum word count. We have some readers who submit one short paragraph per card drawn, and readers that submit 2 or 3 page PDF reports with lots of detail. It’s completely up to you, and your own reading style.
What if I don’t want to read on the FTR platform anymore?
First, be sure to complete all requests that have been allocated to you. To deactivate your FTR profile, simply set your Availability to zero, click NO to “Accepting Readings” and press “Save” You will no longer be allocated reading requests.
Can I still read on the FTR platform if I am not a Community member?
To be eligible to read for the Free Tarot Readings, you need to be an active Biddy Tarot Community member or student of the Biddy Tarot Certification Program.
If you choose to cancel your membership, you will lose access to the Free Tarot Readings hub as a Reader (but you can still log in and request readings as a client).
As a Community Member, how do I request a Free Tarot Reading?
Click on Free Tarot Readings from the menu and navigate to My Requests
This is where all of the readings you’ve requested will appear.
The next tab is “Request a Reading” and this is where you will make a new request. If there are readers available, then you will see a text box for you to type your request into.
The same rules apply — if you have more than 2 readings Awaiting Feedback, you will not be able to make a request, and you are permitted to make a request only once every 15 days.
Am I protected from legal action when performing readings on the FTR platform?
Biddy Tarot has taken steps to encourage our clients to consult the proper channels of assistance when necessary, and that neither Biddy Tarot, nor the people performing these Free Readings, can be held responsible for their actions. You can view this document here.
What do I do if I get a Tarot reading request that I am not comfortable answering?
I encourage you to try and work with the client to come up with a better-suited request if possible. You may find these blog posts that I wrote to be helpful:
▷ The Art of Asking Powerful Questions.
If you are concerned for your client’s safety or well-being, please direct them to seek local, professional support. We do not want to leave folks in need hanging, but also we do need to create boundaries on what the Tarot can and cannot do. Please take a moment to read through this forum post that I wrote on the topic.
If the request is inappropriate or makes you feel uncomfortable, please write to the client and let them know that you will not be answering their request due to an inappropriate subject matter. Please let the client know you are open to answering an entirely different question should they wish to move forward.
If you do not feel able to respond to the client, please contact the Biddy Tarot Helpdesk and we will take the appropriate action — we are here to support you!
I noticed that I went from “Tarot Explorer” to “Tarot Reader”.
What’s up with that?
Good eye!
