Getting Started
Step 1: Read the Agreement:
Step 2: Set Up Your Profile
Member Profile
The information here will be shared with other Community Members. It is important to fill in your Member Profile as much as possible so that fellow Community members can connect with you!
PTR Reader Profile
The information here will be shared with your allocated clients. It is important to fill in your FTR Reader Profile so that when you are ready to begin taking requests for readings on the platform, your clients will know a little bit about you!
PTR Client Profile
The information here will be shared with your allocated Reader when you request a reading of your own. It is important to fill in your FTR Client Profile so that when you make a request, your reader will know a little bit about you!
Step 3: Set Your Availability
When you first start reading on the Practice Tarot Readings platform, I recommend that you start with only 1 or 2 readings a week to get the feel of it.
As your confidence increases and you get a better idea of how many readings you can comfortably take each week, you may want to adjust your availability.
Consider what is realistic based on your other commitments. It’s important to factor in enough time to:
▷ Accept and read through the request
▷ Communicate and clarify with the client (if necessary)
▷ Complete the reading
▷ Write up or record the reading
▷ Submit the reading
Remember, readings need to be sent out within 7 days of the request.
Step 4: Start Reading!
Once you have successfully set your availability, you are ready to receive new reading requests! In the Practice Tarot Readings View, you will see 3 sections:
- New Requests: New reading requests that you have not yet responded to
- In Progress: Reading requests that have not been delivered, but you are in communication with the client
- Completed Readings: Delivered reading requests with (or without) feedback
How to Respond to a New Reading Request
Communicating with the Client Before Completing the Reading
We find that the most positive feedback is left when readers:
▷ Have had open, prompt communication with their clients
▷ Deliver their readings in a timely manner
We highly recommend writing up a short template message you can send to your clients to introduce yourself as soon as you receive and accept their reading, and share a little bit about your reading style.
It’s also the perfect opportunity to establish some boundaries around the types of readings that you (and the Tarot itself!) can and cannot do.
We do have a set of question guidelines in place for anyone who requests a reading to review, including a few blog posts Brigit has written on the art and importance of asking empowered questions.
But, it’s important to note that many clients who request practice readings have never had a Tarot reading before, and many have a limited understanding of what the Tarot can and cannot do.
As you know, many people also turn to Tarot for advice when they feel they have few other options, and seek answers to questions the Tarot can’t really answer.
We get many reading requests each week, which is why we rely on our amazing readers to help us educate clients, and manage their expectations.
The easiest way for you to do this is to have a short welcome message ready to go, that you can copy + paste into the reading comments and send to your clients. An example of your “Hello” message may look something like this:
“Hi Sarah!
Just a quick note to let you know I have received your request for a Practice Tarot Reading. My name is Brigit, and I’m a writer, business owner and Tarot reader based in Queensland, Australia.
I believe that the Tarot is a powerful, nuanced tool that can help us to affect real, empowered change in our lives.
My specialty is focusing on helping you gain the most out of your reading, which comes down to asking the most empowered questions possible. I prefer not to focus on “yes/no” questions, timeline questions, or questions relating to medical and legal matters.
I can see that you have asked whether you will find a new job in the next three months. Perhaps we could ask the Tarot cards for a little guidance about your true purpose, or the industry you would feel the most fulfilled working in?
If you are happy with this, let me know and we can go from there!
Warmly,
Brigit”
Simply type (or copy + paste) your welcome message into the reading text box, and click “Submit Message” (you will not be provided with the Client’s email address, nor will they be provided with yours).
The reading request will now be moved to and appear under the tab, “In Progress”.
Your Client will receive an email notification when you message them, and you will receive an email notification when your Client replies. You will then need to log in to the Community to view the message.
Please note that if either of you reply to the notification email, your message will go to the Biddy Tarot Helpdesk, and we’ll have to get in touch to advise you to resend your message via the FTR platform. This can cause delays in your reading being submitted on time.
You can continue to communicate with your Client on the reading until you are ready to complete the Tarot reading.
Completing the Tarot Reading
When you are ready to send your Tarot reading, we recommend that you prepare the reading in a word processor such as Word, Google Docs, Notes, or Pages first. This is so you can be sure that you always have a copy of what you’ve completed, and can also begin building your reading portfolio if you choose.
Team Biddy does remind clients to leave feedback, but we also recommend including a note at the end of your reading, thanking the client for the opportunity of reading for them, and requesting that they leave feedback.
Once you’ve typed up the reading in a separate document, and inserted photos if you wish, you can then copy and paste it into the text box, or attach the document as a file using the “Add Media” button.
If you decide to copy and paste the text from a word processor into the text box, please use the “paste without formatting” keyboard shortcut to avoid formatting errors.
▷ On PC: use Ctrl+Shift+V
▷ On Mac: use Option+Shift+Command+V
Alternatively, you can type directly into the text box and insert an image of your Tarot reading by clicking “Add Media” and uploading the image. You can also use sites like imgbb.com and tinypic.com to upload a picture and insert the URL into the message.
If you’d prefer to video or record audio of your reading, you can do this too! Simply upload the media file using the “Add Media” button, just as you would to upload a photo, or paste a link to the file (Youtube, Dropbox, etc).
When you are ready to send the Tarot reading, be sure to check the Submit Reading box, and then click “Submit Message”.
The request will now be moved to, and appear under the tab “Completed Readings”.
Your Client will receive an email notification when the Tarot reading has been delivered. They will need to log in to view the reading. Here is a copy of that email:
Hi {{client.first.name}},
Your reader, {{reader.readername}}, has completed your reading, and it is now ready for you to view!
Click here to view the reading and share your feedback.
Don’t forget to hold up your end of the deal and provide your reader feedback on the reading that they have so lovingly crafted for you. It should only take 2 minutes of your time, and it will help {{reader.readername}} continue to grow as a Tarot reader.
Thanks,
Team Biddy
Feedback
When you deliver the reading and are waiting for the Client to leave you feedback, Team Biddy will send an email to your Client every 5 days (for up to 60 days) until feedback is given. Here’s a copy of the email they receive, for your reference:
Hi {{client.first.name}}
We hope you’ve found your free Tarot reading helpful.
Your reader, {{reader.readername}}, has asked you to provide feedback about the Tarot reading.
Copy and paste this link in your browser to share your feedback:
{{reading.link}}
It will only take 2 minutes and it will help {{reader.readername}} continue to grow as a Tarot reader. (Plus, it’s part of the deal!)
Thanks,
Team Biddy
Clients will be invited to give a star rating and provide a written testimonial or comments about the reading. Star ratings and written feedback are for your eyes only. It will not appear to the public or other members.
You can send your client a message requesting feedback at any time. To do this, locate the request in your “Completed Readings” and click “Request Feedback”. You can then draft a message to your client.
If a Client has 2 or more readings that they’ve not given feedback for, they will be blocked from making another request until they hold up their end of the deal.
